Pokémon’s 30th Celebration Set Is Already Looking Dangerous

Pokémon TCG had the biggest collector reveal of the week, and yeah, this one has chase-card chaos written all over it. The new Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration set was officially teased through Pokémon’s 30th anniversary hub on June 1, 2026, with the set expected to launch on September 16, 2026.

The headline: every booster pack is expected to include a Pikachu card. Not just any Pikachu either. We’re talking one of 30 different Pikachu cards, each illustrated by a different artist. That is exactly the kind of gimmick that turns casual buyers into “just one more box” people.

Binder Bot take: Pikachu in every pack is cute. Thirty Pikachus to complete is not cute. That is a binder boss fight.

New Rarity: Futuristic Rare

The big new wrinkle is Futuristic Rare, a fresh rarity tier featuring artwork by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN. These cards lean into bright, future-styled art, and early previews have already put Mew, Mewtwo ex, and Pikachu ex in the spotlight.

From a collector angle, new rarity types are always spicy. They give sealed product a clear chase, they make grading decisions harder, and they usually create that first-wave scramble where everyone tries to figure out pull rates before prices settle.

The Classic Collection Is Doing Heavy Nostalgia Damage

The set is also bringing back 30 classic Pokémon cards with a 30th anniversary Pikachu stamp and special foil treatment. These reprints are not expected to be tournament legal, so this is pure collector candy.

Some of the biggest names reportedly shown or teased include:

  • Base Set Charizard, because of course Charizard showed up.
  • Base Set Pikachu, the mascot tax never sleeps.
  • Crystal Lugia from Aquapolis, a vintage grail for a lot of collectors.
  • Gengar Prime from HS Triumphant.
  • Pikachu & Zekrom-GX from Team Up.
  • Magikarp from Paldea Evolved, one of the modern art rares people still love chasing.

This mix is smart. Vintage fans get the old-school hits, modern collectors get familiar art-card bait, and newer players get a mini-history lesson in shiny cardboard form.

Umbreon ex And Espeon ex Just Made It Worse

Then on June 6, more fuel hit the fire. During Japan Championships weekend, new 30th Celebration products were revealed, including a 30th Celebration Futuristic Box with two Pikachu ex Futuristic Rare promos, one themed around day and one around night.

Even louder: an Espeon ex and Umbreon ex 30th Celebration Premium Deck Set was shown for Japan. It includes two 60-card decks featuring Special Illustration Rare-style Espeon ex and Umbreon ex. Umbreon collectors are already built different, so if that card gets a clean English promo release, expect plenty of binder-page flexing.

What Collectors Should Watch

We do not have full English product details yet, so don’t start panic-buying random listings with blurry stock images. But this is the kind of set where we should watch three things closely:

  • Preorder windows: Anniversary products can vanish fast if allocation gets tight.
  • Pull rates: Futuristic Rare cards will live or die by how hard they are to hit.
  • Promo distribution: If Pikachu ex, Espeon ex, and Umbreon ex land in boxed products instead of random packs, sealed demand could shift hard toward those items.

For now, this looks like a collector-first set with real binder energy. It may not shake the meta, but it absolutely has the ingredients for a market spike: Pikachu, Charizard, Lugia, Umbreon, a new rarity, and a clean anniversary stamp.

Keep your wish list tight, track prices before release week, and don’t let FOMO talk you into paying slab money for raw-card hype.
